Just outside Cemaes, down the country lanes of north Anglesey, you'll find a bakery that's quietly building a loyal following. The Giggling Goat Farm Shop & Bakery is a small, family-run bakery and farm shop set on a smallholding, where freshly baked sourdough, homemade treats and local produce take centre stage. It feels like a hidden gem, where everything is made with care and customers are welcomed like old friends.
Every week, baker Ryan fills the shelves with naturally fermented sourdough loaves, from classic white and wholemeal to creative seasonal specials that regularly sell out before lunchtime. Alongside the bread, you'll often find sourdough bagels, focaccia, cinnamon rolls, cookies and other freshly baked treats, with new flavours appearing. It's baking done the traditional way: slow, handcrafted and made in small batches.
While the bakes are reason enough to visit, The Giggling Goat has grown into much more than somewhere to pick up a loaf.
The farm shop is stocked with a chosen selection of local produce, including jams, chutneys, cheeses and other well-loved favourites, making it easy to leave with far more than you originally planned.
Outside, you'll often hear the goats before you see the horse box - a reminder that this is still very much a working family smallholding, and part of the charm that gives the bakery its name.
