The Best Sunday Roasts in North Wales

Sunday roast at Catch 22

We’re spoilt for choice for Sunday roasts in North Wales. When the weather is cooler and it’s raining outside, you can’t beat a wholesome roast in a cosy setting.

Here are some of my favourites within Gwynedd, Conwy & Anglesey, as well some of your recommendations too. For more options, head to my Instagram.

The Best Sunday Roasts on Anglesey

Pebbles Bistro, Benllech

Pebbles Sunday Roast

Undoubtedly one of the best roasts on Anglesey comes from Pebbles. The Sunday roast options are very much traditional using fresh & local produce, and delivered with style.

Opening in 2020, Pebbles have become a firm favourite with locals. They also host a 2 for 1 burger night every Wednesday, and I’ve been told they are superb.

The chefs can tailor their menus for any allergens, and they are dog friendly in the bar area. Take a look at more dog friendly recommendations.

Catch 22 Brasserie, Valley

With every dish they do, Catch 22 (hey that rhymes) manage to execute comfort dishes with full flavour superbly. Their Sunday roasts are of no exception.

Make sure to leave room for pwdin! Their Snickers trifle is a must.

Bay View Restaurant at Gadlys Hotel, Cemaes Bay

Gadlys hotel Sunday roast

I was extremely impressed with the Sunday Roast over at the Gadlys Hotel. The welcoming restaurant teamed with this Sunday menu makes for a great family friendly meal out.

If you’re looking for more family friendly options to eat in North Wales, Gwen from Caffis and Babis sent over some pram-friendly recommendations.

The Sandy Mount House, Rhosneigr

Sandy Mount House Sunday roast

Many of you have highly recommended the Sandy Mount House Sunday roasts, and I can see why! The portions look generous, and the interior is stunning. The Sunday roast is on my wish list!

The White Eagle, Rhoscolyn

Whitr Eagle Sunday roast

Nestled next to one of my favourite coastal path routes is the White Eagle. With it’s large window and an outside dining area that overlooks the beach, it’s hard to escape the wonderful views. I have not had a Sunday roast from here in a while, but many of you still recommend.

The White Eagle are also dog friendly.

Sunday Roast Recommendations in Conwy

The Toad, Colwyn Bay

The Toad is situated on the western promenade of the Bay of Colwyn. It’s recent refurbishment is timeless & warming - the perfect spot for a weekend meal.

I highly recommend requesting to sit at The Captain’s Table: A semi private room looking out towards the sea. The Toad is dog friendly.

Signatures, Aberconwy

For a sophisticated take on the Sunday roast, head down to Signatures. With many restaurant awards under their belt, this restaurant is a safe bet for a special meal out.

Pen-Y-Bryn, Colwyn Bay

For a traditional pub setting with an open fire, head to Pen-Y-Bryn. The portions are large but the quality doesn’t falter. Pen-Y-Bryn is definitely worth a visit during the festive period, as they pull out all of the stops with their Christmas tree!

The Manor, Conwy

The Manor Sunday roast, Conwy

Another one highly recommended by NWG followers. The 19th- century Manor house has been restored with a contemporary feel whilst maintaining most of its original features. Another one for my list!

The Hayloft Bar and Grill at Bodnant Welsh Food, Colwyn Bay

I am yet to try the Sunday roasts, but based on their lunch time menu I have eaten and loved, I know it will be excellent. The Hayloft also offers a Sunday roast sharing plate for two - TAKE MY MONEY.

The Hayloft is part of the Bodnant Food Centre, which is also home to a fantastic local produce farm shop. Read the where to pick up the best BBQ produce for meal time inspiration.

The Erskine Arms, Conwy

The dog-friendly Erskine Arms always manages to hit the spot, so I’m overdue a try of their Sunday roast menu. The Erskine was one of the most recommended places in the Conwy area, so that is your sign to get booking.

Where to Eat a Sunday Roast in Gwynedd

Tremfan Hall, Llanbedrog

One of my favourite places in Gwynedd for a Sunday roast is Tremfan Hall. Offering top quality Welsh rump of beef and highly vegetarian options, they can also cater to any dietary requirements.

The Fanny Talbot, Barmouth

The Fanny Talbot is an informal, fine dining gastro pub in the centre of the popular Barmouth town. It looks fairly unassuming from the outside, and the bar space inside is charming.

All of the food at these pubs is some of the best in the area- however, The Fanny Talbot is a standout. In 2023, the restaurant team were awarded 2 AA Rosettes.

Dogs are welcome for lunchtime service only.

The Slate | Y Llechen, Tal-Y-Bont

A popular destination for a Sunday roast in Gwynedd is The Slate, and for a good reason too. Hearty portions, elevated roasts, yet family friendly.

Y Sgwar, Tremadog

Y Sgwar's regular menu is always recommended, so I’m sure the Sunday roast options are also delicious. Examples include local topside beef, Welsh lamb with minted gravy, as well as a meat free chestnut nut roast, and salmon fillet with parsely sauce.

Denbighshire

The White Horse Inn, Hendrerwydd

If you’re looking for a postcard-perfect countryside pub with a wholesome menu, look no further than The White Horse.

Chef Jason's passion and attention to detail in these dishes shine, and the dedication to using local produce makes such a difference to the flavours.

As well as serving sublime Sunday roasts, The White Horse are currently open every Wednesday - Saturday with small plates, and the pub has dog-friendly areas.

Flintshire

The Piccadilly Inn, Caerwys

The Piccadilly Inn is run by Oli and his family - the chef behind the much-missed Gaerwen Arms. The Piccadilly menu very much gives a nod to the GA menu, with classic dishes such as fish and chips, sourdough with beef dripping butter, and one of the best Sunday roasts in North Wales.

Piccadilly Inn is dog-friendly.
