Pram-Friendly Cafes in North Wales

Pram-friendly places to eat from Caffis and Babis

Gwen Saunders Collins from Caffis a Babis on Instagram has compiled a list of some of the best pram-friendly places on Anglesey and Gwynedd.

After the birth of my son, Elis, in February 2019, I soon realized how much time I was spending in cafes with other mothers. The main question was 'where shall we go?' and very often we would end up in the same places every time. I often heard other mothers in groups having the same discussion.

From this I got an idea - why not go and look for suitable cafes, take pictures and post about those places that are pram friendly, and open an Instagram and Facebook account in order to let other parents or guardians know about those convenient spaces? Three years later, and now with my second child in tow, the account has gone from strength to strength, with people suggesting cafes all over Wales.

With Elis now a toddler, I’ve also started to include pram-friendly walks and parks. The criterion I have is simple - after I have eaten in a cafe, would I go back with my children? If the answer is 'yes', then it will be included on my page.

Here are some of my favourite pram-friendly places since 'Caffis a Babis' was established.

Sea Shanty, Treaddur Bay

The Sea Shanty is one of my favourite places to eat, which is also conveniently pram-friendly. I've lost count on how many times I’ve been here for different family celebrations!

The menu is great, as is the kids menu, and baby changing facilities and high chairs are available. With different marine artefacts decorating this space, it definitely keeps little ones and grown-ups occupied! There is also the added bonus of having a nice beach and a suitable pram route on the front, where you can enjoy your tasty Sea Shanty ice cream with a view.

Tŷ Golchi, Bangor

Tŷ Golchi has always been a popular place for a mum meet-up. It’s a spacious area, with outdoor tables, high chairs and baby changing facilities available. They also have a kids menu which includes a picnic option – Elis is a big fan!

They also have crayons and colouring in sheets to entertain little ones, as well as supplying child-friendly cutlery. The staff here are great with children, and are very willing to go that extra mile.

Pant Du, Penygroes

Pant Du ticks a lot of boxes for Caffis a Babis. There is plenty of space indoors, and the outdoor dining space hosts a kids play area. Pant Du provide high chairs and baby changing facilities.

Their afternoon teas are epic, even for children. Pant Du host a regular Ti a Fi children’s group – proof that this place really is pram and child friendly!

Fron Goch, Caernarfon

As well as being an award-winning business, The Fron Goch cafe is a great place to eat after visiting the garden centre and shop.

They have all the usual facilities for babies, as well as offering a great picnic selection for children (pictured). The staff are extremely accomodating, and are happy to help with carrying your trays to the table.

Exciting developments are on the horizon, with table service being one such development – perfect if your children won’t wait in line by the counter!
