Where to Eat Vegan in North Wales

Bagel from Caffi Fran, Llanberis

The variety of vegan eats on Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy is becoming substantial, with many specialising in vegan only offerings.

The Eating Gorilla, Penrhyndeudraeth

Located in the small town of Penrhyndeudraeth is the fully vegan and dog-friendly The Eating Gorilla Cafe Restaurant. The cheerful flavoursomemenu and the fantastically relaxed atmosphere makes The Eating Gorilla a must visit for anyone visiting the area.

Whether you want a hearty burger, a healthy Buddha Bowl, or one of their popular ‘Freak Shakes’ (Chocolate cookie shake anyone?), there is something for everyone.

Frân, Llanberis

Beetroot hummus and avocado bagel, and loaded nachos from Caffi Fran

Caffi Frân has a well edited selection of lunch and snack options: Each dish is loaded with flavour. My favourites are the beetroot bagel with smoky chickpeas (picture above), and the fresh mezze.

If you’re just after a snack, nothing can beat their Heartland Coffee flat whites with a freshly baked cinnamon swirl literally the size of my hand.

Frân is the epitome of a relaxed atmosphere, which is just what you might need after a long walk in the mountains.

Open Friday - Monday, 11-4pm. Dog-friendly.

Voltaire, Bangor

For dirrrrty BBQ vegan food, Voltaire is the place to go.

Voltaire is snuggled between houses and opposite the Boatyard Inn. They usually offer sit in dining but are currently offering takeaways only for the time being. Which means you’ll be able to eat a Naughty Ninja (hoisin vegan steak & spring roll topping) or The Soul Man burger (mac and vegan cheese, v fried chicken and sweet chilli sauce) from the comfort of your own home!

Takeaway’s available Fridays & Saturdays. Keep a look out for updates.

Green Olive Vegan, Menai Bridge

Green Olive is one of my favourite cafes in North Wales. With a well crafted and rounded menu to suit everyone’s preferences, it’s no wonder the cafe is as popular as it is.

The highlights from recent menus in my opinion are the American style panckaes (the churros texture pancakes are a gamechanger), the Green Olive full breakfast, and the Korean bowl.

Green Olive is open Fridays - Tuesdays, 9am-5pm.

Other restaurants worth mentioning

For the past few years, non-vegan restaurants are offering fantastic plant-based menu options. Here are a few of my favourites.
