Millies North Wales is owned by Mielan (Bakes) and Jasmine (Grazing). As well as working separately to create delicious bakes and fantastic grazing tables, they have now decided to come together to showcase their combined skills.

I spoke to Mielan and Jasmine about their new venture, how lockdown affected their businesses, and what they have planned for the future.

Lockdown as a whole, for most adaptive food businesses, was incredible. In reflection it was certainly one of our busiest periods and provided us with the best opportunities. As people we were so restricted with what we were able to do. The only thing we were pretty much allowed to do was to sit at home and eat. And what is better than a graze box or brownie? Lockdown really gave us a taste of what the businesses world has to offer and encouraged us to pursue our individual ventures.

The concept of Millies was initially formed when me and Jasmine came to the collective decision that we needed more room, for our then separate businesses. Alongside a fixed place of work separate from our home lives. Rather than going this road alone, we decided to work together and create a space that we could both operate from on a larger more efficient scale. It made sense from a business perspective to combine forces and start this professional venture together.

Along with our individual skills and talents our goals and aspirations are incredibly similar. That paired with the fact we were already working together to provide a local business with produce, meant that working together and growing as a unit instead of individually would provide the best opportunities. Two minds are better than one.

Our current plan for the business is to continue allowing it to grow organically and at a sustainable rate while we adapt to our new working lives.

With regards to plans and ideas for the future, we have plenty. Weddings are something we are currently dipping into and getting a taste for. For the long-term vision, we want Millies to be the start of our business portfolio. With the outlook of it becoming a self-sustaining source of income to enable us to pursue different ventures while providing opportunities and employment for the local community.

Millies Bakes is currently offering brownie sharing boxes and personalised slabs which can be ordered online here and collected in the Millies workspace. To enquire about grazing tables or events, message Millies Grazing here.

Make sure to follow Millies on social media to stay up to date with news of pop-ups, competitions, and special offers.

Also: A special thank you to both Mielan and Jasmine for creating an outstanding grazing table for my hen-do back in July 2022 (image above) - We were all absolutely blown away witht eh quality, tastiness and service! I highly recommend to you all if you have a special event coming up.
