Purple Moose Launching Recipe Cards with Owen Vaughan

Purple Moose have teamed up with Masterchef finalist Owen Vaughan to create recipes that use & compliment their award winning beers.

Purple Moose Brewery are based in Porthmadog, and are known for their refreshing pale ales, zingy, hoppy IPAs, and their deep & delicious dark bitters and stouts. The team have rather cleverly decided to showcase their offerings by collabrating with Owen Vaughen to create delicious recipe cards which are launching this month.

Owen, who has recently taken over as head chef at The Fanny Talbot in Barmouth, has created a wide range of easy and indulgent dishes that encourage the use of local produce whilst being affordable, and showcasing Purple Moose’s core and craft range.

The recipes have been created with home cooks in mind: There is a perfect balance of quick midweek meals alongside lengthier indulgent weekend feasts.

Some of the dishes include beer braised beef short ribs, malt glazed celeriac and truffle purée which uses Dark Side of the Moose, smoked haddock rarebit, vegan mushroom soup, and locally sourced Cumberland sausages served with roasted tendersteam broccoli & beer onion gravy.

Owen and Purple Moose arranged a cook off back in February over at The Food Technology Centre in Llangefni, and very kindly invited NWG for a sneaky peak of these dishes being made!

Whilst visiting, Cat Stuijt, Purple Moose’s Marketing & Digital Marketing Manager chatted to me about why the team decided to take on this project:

We are very proud of our beers – both the core range and the craft range.

We believe that our love of food and championing food pairings with our beers is a great opportunity to stand out and showcase our beers.

We have a brewery tap in Porthmadog called ‘The Australia’, and here we serve delicious home-cooked food - so the recipe cards felt like a natural step for us.

The recipe cards will be launched in late April, and will be included in all online order deliveries. Further plans on beer match recipes will be revealed by Purple Moose throughout 2023. Head to Purple Moose’s website for updates!
