NWG 2024 Hit List

Vale Street Kitchen, Denbigh

The older I get, the more willing I am to drive a good hour for a delicious dish.

If there’s a beautiful walk in the area, then that’s a double win. And I’ve learned over the years that so many of you feel the same.

This is why in 2024, I’ll be looking at exploring all of North Wales in order to try and to support as many local businesses as possible. It’sa tough job/ hobby, but someone’s got to get that picture for the ‘Gram.

I wasn’t able to explore much in the latter half of 2023, so I feel I have some making up to do for these tastebuds of mine.

My ‘To Try’ List

Guildhall Tavern, Denbighshire

Somewhere I’m absolutely desperate to visit is Vale Street Kitchen in Denbighshire. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the Chicken Parm they posted on their Facebook (above), and am constantly salivating over their freshly baked focaccia.

The Sunday roasts at Guildhall Tavern, also in Denbighshire has been recommended to me countless times - The picture above says it all really.

Lemon Tree afternoon tea offerings

The Lemon Tree in Wrexham is also on the top of my hit list - I don’t know what I feel my stomach deserves first; their afternoon tea or their Sunday roast. They recently scored an AA Rosette award, so need to go before it gets too busy!

Repeat Visit

White Horse: Venison loin, horseradish potatoes, blackberries & crispy kale

Like above, the following is not an exhaustive list - I want to visit as many businesses as possible in 2024. The first on my list is the fabulous White Horse Restaurant in Hendrerwydd. I was able to visit a couple of times in 2022, and have been craving their dishes ever since. As those of you who have visited before, each mouthful is a treat.

Apple and Biscoff cookies from Autumn. Absolute heaven.

Last year, I briefly paid Caffeina Coffee Shop in an afternoon, when they had sold out of the majority of their popular bakes - and rightly so. I managed to bag an iced coffee & one of the last cookies…and I was very much in sugar heaven. It was a delight. And I’ve been ogling over the other cookie combos and brunches for far too long now. Winter 2024 is when I will make my return!

Nomi in Porthmadog & Pebbles in Benllech have blown me away with their comforting yet unique flavours over the past couple of years, and I cannot wait to revisit.

Bakes from Malwen Stores, Conwy

Malwen Stores charmed me the moment I set foot through the door. There have been so many weekends since my first visit that I’ve planned on returning, but something has always come up. They appear to improve week after week with their bakery options from their hometown of Manchester. Again - Winter 2024, let’s do this.

As always, I’m all ears for recommendations. Drop me a message and I’ll try to pay a visit!
